November is a beautiful month for many reasons. The season is sliding from heat waves to cold weather, providing us moments to snuggle up with a warm drink and watch a movie on TV that, during any other time of the year, we wouldn’t even dream of watching. November also encourages us to reflect on family, friends, opportunity, love and all other things to be thankful for.
We, even on our worst day, are privileged. We have so much to be thankful for- whether it be cars, bikes, or transit that take us from one place to another, family and friends to support and encourage us to accomplish what we have in our sights, entertainment to busy us when we need a break from the every day business of life.
Concern Worldwide asks, “What if for just one day you said, “No, thank you,” to extras and meals out and donated the money you saved to hunger relief and prevention?
It’s a surprising statistic, but the average person wastes 14 percent of their food on a daily basis. Here’s another surprising statistic for you: just 5 percent of what we don’t use—or truly need—would be enough to feed 4 million hungry people for a day.”
Concern has started the Empty Plate Campaign in hopes of providing relief to millions of hungry mouths. Think about it, pack a lunch to bring to work instead of spending 10 bucks going out. You can donate that $10 to the Empty Plate Campaign and help feed millions. If you are on Facebook, you can add the Empty Plate Campaign cause and tell your whole network about this wonderful cause.
Creative Labs has partnered with Concern Worldwide US by providing Vado HD pocket cameras to help share their cause, their progress, and their stories with the rest of the world. In using the Vado HD cameras, Concern has the ability to easily film high quality videos while out in the field. The videos allow them to help grow the amount of people participating in the cause by making videos for the rest of the world to see.
Please watch the two videos below to get a better insight into Concern and Creative’s fight to provide international hunger relief. This holiday season, give thanks for all you have by giving to those who have less. If you would like to watch more Concern videos, please visit their YouTube site.
“Concern’s work is informed by a vision for change. We envision a world in which no one lives in poverty, fear or oppression; in which all have access to a decent standard of living and the opportunities and choices essential to a long, healthy and creative life; and in which everyone is treated with dignity and respect.
